Overview

What it is and who it is for

The Puck is the tag most Tagon deployments start with. It is a sealed, ribbed enclosure with no ports and no service interval — you fix it to the asset and it reports for years.

IP68 means it survives dust and immersion, so it works on assets that live outdoors: yard containers, site generators, trailers, drums and skips.

Tagon tags are SIM card-free. They report their position by Bluetooth to nearby finder devices, which pass an encrypted location on to the cloud. You get a position without paying for a data plan on every tag.

Key features

What the Tagon Puck does

IP68 sealed body

Dust-tight and protected against immersion. No ports, no seals to service.

3–5 year battery

An 800 mAh CR14250 cell. Fit it and leave it for the life of the asset.

Geo-fence alerts

Draw a boundary around a yard or site. Get an alert when the asset leaves it.

History playback

Replay where an asset has been, so you can see routes and dwell, not just its last position.

Audible alert

Trigger a sound from the tag to find the asset once you are close to it.

Third-party API

Push positions into the fleet or ERP system you already run.

Installation

Fitting the Tagon Puck

Four steps. Most installs take about a minute.

Choose the face

Pick a flat, external surface with a clear view of the sky and away from large metal overhangs where possible.

Clean and dry

Wipe the surface down. Adhesive and magnets both hold better on clean metal.

Fix the tag

Mount with the supplied fixing. Keep the ribbed face outward.

Activate

Add the tag to your Tagon account by scanning its code, then name the asset it belongs to.

All installation guides
Once the tag is registered it appears on the map with the name you gave it. See what happens next.
On the platform

What you see once it is connected

Position on the map, movement in history, a geo-fence around where the asset belongs, and an alert when that boundary is crossed.

Deploying the Tagon Puck?

Tell us how many, where they are going and what system the data needs to reach. We will come back with a specification and a deployment plan.

What to have ready

  • What you need to track, and roughly how many
  • Where those assets operate
  • Indoors, outdoors, or both
  • Any system the data needs to reach

That is usually enough for us to recommend a device and a deployment shape.
